Elizabeth Whittington

Elizabeth Whittington, MBA, APR, is the senior director of executive communications for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Prior to her current position, she led a successful team as director of digital media. At St. Jude, she earned a PRSA Bronze Anvil for executive communications and was a leading team member for the 2020 Silver Anvil Award for a campaign promoting a rare disease gene therapy study. Beginning her career as a journalist for CURE magazine, a national publication that provides the latest oncology research and clinical breakthroughs to patients, she was ultimately responsible for the digital strategy for the media company. She led CURE to several honors, including the 2010 FOLIO: award for Best Consumer Health and Fitness Magazine Website. She completed a Medicine in the Media fellowship, The Challenge of Reporting on Medical Research, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health's Office of Disease Prevention in Bethesda, Maryland. Elizabeth mentors early- and mid-career professionals in public relations and science communications, is a National Association of Science Writers member and serves as a board member for the Public Relations Society of America Memphis Chapter.
